Liquor
The alcohol content of distilled beverages (spirits and liqueurs) is much easier to find than in fermented beverages like beer or wine because it must be specified on the container. It is generally depicted in percent alcohol by volume (ABV), in percentage by weight (sometimes abbreviated w/w for weight for weight), or in proof. In the USA, the 'proof' measurement is twice the percentage of alcohol by volume at 60 degrees Fahrenheit (e.g., 80 proof = 40% ABV).
Read on to find liquor alcohol content by type of beverage:
Spirits - 35-60% ABV - ~75
calories/oz or 7 calories/gram
Unsweetened alcoholic beverages based on distilled alcohol with a
percentage of alcohol greater than perhaps 30% are referred to as
spirits. Spirits are produced by distillation of a fermented product,
concentrating the alcohol and eliminating some of the by-products.
If you are looking for low sugar content of alcohol, this is your best
choice of drink.
